Amazing life beside the canal
For a day trip, you will need:
No stilettos now…make sure you wear comfortable flat shoes with a good grip. Waterproof gear is always an idea although there is plenty of room inside if it rains. Dress warmer than the day dictates to compensate for the wind chill as we sail along, and remember your sun block and a hat on sunny days.
If you have any allergies, be sure to bring your anti histamines or other treatments.
Sample Schedule:

Route three:
Auchinstarry to Falkirk High - including
Falkirk Tunnel
The Falkirk wheel needs no introduction; indeed it has caused such an international fuss that it almost eclipses an equally dramatic feature of the old Union Canal ; the tunnel. The 700-yard tunnel at Falkirk High was built over 180 years ago and many a tale it has to tell....
It takes a full twenty minutes to sail through and can also be a little bit disconcerting for claustrophobia sufferers. The stalactites are incredible and British Waterways have done a spectacular job of the lighting.
See the map on the Canal page.
